Live -in Students

Here's what some of the students have said about their experiences........

Karola (right) from Germany stayed in October 2006 and Kendra from September 2006.

"Those who I showed the pictures from Tasmania couldn't believe I went there (sometimes, I still can't believe it) and they admired the country side. Thank you for the good time and experience in your country." Karola.

Swiss Family L-R: Jens, Seth, Daniela and Annouk stayed for January 2006.

From the moment we arrived we felt very comfortable and welcome. We actually were quiet surprised to have such a nice little house (in a beautiful setting)
with all the possibilities - it certainly was more than we expected and ideal for us as a family.
We think it was a good and fair balance between the work-, the horse-
and "cuppa"-time.
It was an adventure for you and for us to have a whole family stay as
live-in-students. Thank you Cynthia for your patience and care with
our children - thank you Pete for all the play, laugh, work and
speaking English with the children. They have taken you both into
their hearts and talk about you very often. We came as strangers and left as friends.
We appreciated the high quality, healthy personality and training- level of your horses.Thank you for your trust in us handling your horses. We tried our best and learned a lot. The children learned to be braver even with bigger horses and became very attached to Rosie and Armero. Sometimes Jens would have wished
them to be a bit braver and try more - but on the other hand, it is
better to stay on your safe and gentle side, than to start pulling
and kicking ... (it's all about patience with kids and horses!). They
realised themselves how their horsemanship had improved when they
rode our ponies at home again ... apart from the fact that they
thought our ponies are a bit small !!!
For us it is difficult to express what the actual learning experience
is, because it is so interwoven with the experience we had, but has
been extended through your extensive experience Cynthia and through
the different personalities of the horses and situations we met
during our stay. In the PNH system so much is attached to the levels
- somehow that what we learned extended over so many levels, a rich
and rewarding experience. For Daniela it was enriching to train the
feeling for patience and timing in the handling of many different
horses and to try to handle them according to their different
personalities.
We learned a lot of practical things and our skills to read a horse
improved. We made some mistakes and we learned from them too.
The camps were a special experience. We saw very different levels of
horsemanship and enjoyed meeting the paricipants and their horses.
We all learned plenty and think that you Cynthia, you did an astonishingly good job of instructing. We know how hard it is to keep a sack of fleas under
control!

Beccy from Chicago, USA stayed from Oct. to December 2005.

"My time at Natural Horse World with Cynthia and co. was an eye opening experience. Not only was I directed down a path that I always knew was right for me with horses but my entire outlook in life has been redirected. Learning how to see through the horses' eyes and think as a horse does is not easily done because it involves stepping outside of who you are.

In my short two months in Golden Valley, I discovered the magic that awaits anyone who thinks and steps outside the box and I truly experienced a type of deep connection with horses that I have only ever experienced within my own species. I am excited about how this new perspective will shape who I become as I pursue a career as a vet and I know that I will never again allow myself to consider the world only through my own limited vision."

Sarah from South Africa stayed from March to September 2005 and achieved Parelli Level 2.

"Its been great to live with such content natural horses who have a great life, enjoying the best of everything. Its been fantastic having Rosie as my horse! I absolutuely love her and have learnt so much through playing with her as she has similar qualities to my horse. I came here to learn about horsemanship but am leaving with so much more. I've learnt about the welfare of the whole horse, it gives new meaning to mental, emotional and physical fitness!
Thanks again, I will miss all the special animals here. Sala Gathle (stay well)"

Tamasine from South Africa stayed in January/Feb. 2005

Tamasine says…. "a huge thank you to you and all those who made us feel so incredibly welcome. The hospitality and warmth of all those while I stayed on mainland Australia and in Tasmania was stunning. Even officials like those at Customs were pleasant, friendly and helpful and it made the whole trip so much easier. It makes a huge difference when you are away from home for 8 weeks, to be made to feel so welcome. Carin and I made lots of new friends and had a great time. I hope that we may see some of you here in time and definitely on a return trip.
We had huge fun at the clinics and it was wonderful experience for me to be able to practice some teaching - so thanks to all of you who let me loose on you and your horses. I also want to extend a special thank you to Paul and Karen who guided us around Quamby for the most amazing ride through wicked undergrowth and which gave us a wonderful chance to practice all our skills - in particular 'squeezing' around, under, through and over things!!!!!! It was an amazing way to find out exactly how and where horses can travel - even up vertical hills with me hanging onto the tail! Thanks to Jen and Andrew - who showed us 'the real picture' (they will know what I mean) and Dominique who I am hoping to see in a few weeks here on SA soil!
Last, but by no means least, I have to thank Cynthia and Pete who had us to stay with them and for sharing their home and giving us surrogate animals during out stay - Tigga, Meg, the 3 goats, sheep, Tiny Cow....and the horses...of course. This last group of course I want to give a big hug and extra apple - Lucky for hauling me up the hill and coping with me for almost 5 hours bareback, Manny for teaching me so much about refinement and Jack - who let me ride him."

Carin from South Africa stayed in January/Feb. 2005

Riding around Quamby Bluff can be a real challenge for your skills.

From 1999 to 2007 I have hosted horse lovers from Canada, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Japan, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland, South Africa, USA and UK.
They have visited to live and learn with my horses from periods of 3 weeks to 7 months and helped with the development and maintainence of my property and horse care in return for accommodation, horse/equipment lease, lessons and workshops.
