Horses are not born with tack or asking to be ridden.

Indeed, many cannot be ridden or driven for various reasons such as injury, old age, ill-health, past training issues, or general unsuitability.

Some people choose not to ride and can face many pressures from peers, professionals, and even their friends.

The non-ridden horse, pony, mule, or donkey is often overlooked and undervalued. But these days, many people recognize the benefits of simply having horses and enjoying them for who they are, rather than what they can do.

The Non Ridden Equine Association UK has been set up to celebrate the many joys of non-ridden equines and to promote ownership and good practice of non-ridden equines.

Steve and Vicki Yates set up the original Non Ridden Equine Facebook group on the 4th of May 2017.
It has become a large global group with more than 20,000 members.
The group is very inspirational and it was clear that way more than providing a Facebook group for like-minded people could be done.
So with the needs of the Facebook group membership in mind, a not-for-profit venture – The Non-Ridden Equine Association UK was launched on August the 1st 2017.

Why a UK association when the original Non-Ridden Equine Facebook Group is global?

Vicki and Steve say.. ‘We do not have the skills or funds to tackle global issues so our work has a UK focus.
However, as we are the only non-ridden equine collective platform we welcome all, no matter where you live in the world.
From novices to professionals, non-riders, and riders, people who own or care for non-ridden equines, and those who are seeking a better way.
We make all our resources available FREE for ALL to enjoy. ”

The huge list of resources includes:

  • A library from equine professionals to give you ideas and inspiration for your non-ridden equines.
  • Social Media. We have a network of affiliated Non-Ridden Equine Facebook Groups.
  • Links to welfare organizations so you can adopt a perfect equine partner for you.
If you are not looking to adopt, you can find out how you can get involved in supporting these organizations.
  • Re-Homing. If you have a non-ridden equine you need to re-home we have FREE information and advice.
  • A listing of Non-Ridden Equine Friendly Businesses worldwide.

So commit to doing something to celebrate your non-ridden equines this weekend coming!

If you’re inclined to share what you do, join a Non-Ridden Facebook group and engage with like-minded people worldwide or in your region.
