Bareback Pads

Bareback Pads make sense in so many ways

Neck Rope riding in a bareback pad can teach both horse and rider to relax.

A bareback pad is a good option if you are having trouble finding a saddle to fit your horse, need to use something while you are waiting for your saddle to arrive, or want something to start your young horse in while his back is changing shape.

Most Bareback pads are ideal for any shaped horse as they have no rigid structures to put pressure on the horse. They can (and should be) girthed up looser than a saddle so are more comfortable for the horse. A high-withered horse may need a treeless saddle pad underneath the bareback pad to alleviate pressure at the wither.

They are ideal for the rider to improve their independent seat as a bareback pad should not have stirrups. Using stirrups on a bareback pad can put a lot of pressure directly on the spine.
Most bareback pads don’t provide any support for a stirrup system to alleviate spinal pressure. See this article: Beware of using bareback pads with stirrups.

They also offer fantastic grip if they are made from suede leather and are light, so are easily carried to the horse.
A bareback pad offers ideal padding for the horse’s back (from your pointy seat bones) when riding for longer periods bareback, and they keep the rider clean!

It is much quicker to throw on a bareback pad than to saddle up and most of all, horses love them. They can also be used to rehabilitate horses who have suffered soreness from saddles and who try to bite or kick while being saddled.

Here’s how a LightRider® Bareback pad can be used with starting young horses. I love how ‘Stuntman Steve’ isn’t tied on but stays secure due to the grip of the suede bareback pad.

Hi there, I will be interested in purchasing a bareback saddle pad (In brown) . I am currently posted in Vanuatu, Can you please let me know if it is possible to have it mailed here. My western saddle size is 15″ so I guess that regular would be Ok. Also how much would it cost to have it sent here.
    Thank you
    Best regards
    Jack Prouchandy
